Luke records the birth of Jesus in chapter two; verse 14 tells us, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Sometimes this world tries to rob us of that peace. But think about this for one moment. Christ was born in a manger. He lived, going about His Father’s work, sharing the Gospel and loving the most unlovable amongst us. He died so that we might be redeemed…that we might have eternal life.
So, you’re upset because as we wrap up the year you don’t have a new car under the tree or a huge house to entertain in? Jesus was born in a manger and walked most everywhere He went. He wasn’t concerned with what He didn’t have. He concerned Himself with what really matters…loving people. You can’t wrap up the gift of salvation, but it’s the gift that will keep on giving throughout all of eternity.
So, what are you worried about? Philippians 4:6 tells us, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Thank God for the many, many blessings He bestowed upon you this past year. Thank Him for the trials that have honed you into a great warrior, refining your spiritual warfare tactics. God is working all things together for your good, to give you a greater Kingdom purpose.
Know that great things are just ahead. Be thankful in all things. Give Him glory in all things. As we end the year, we have a tendency to be stressed out, tapped out and just feel miserable…when we should be celebrating the King. We should be celebrating the greatest gift of all time…the gift that arrived in a lowly manger without great fanfare, the gift that changed the course of the world and granted us life everlasting.
Make this a great time of celebration and thanksgiving. God is waiting to give you the thing your heart desires. Psalm 27:13 says, “I would have fainted, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Are you waiting on a breakthrough? This is your time! Are you in need of a healing touch in your body, in your relationships, in your finances? Call upon the mighty name of the Lord and He will lead you down a path of righteousness to your total victory.
Take time today to thank God, to praise Him for the wonderful things that He has done and for the blessings that are on the way. Celebrate the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, for we serve an awesome Savior…and He is working all things together for your good.
