This Sunday morning, we will conclude the sermon series, “Power Struggle” with the message, “The Struggle Between Us and Them.” This message focuses on the struggle between generations. Never before in history have so many generations of people been engaged at the same time. At this moment, there are four distinct generations in the work place: matures, baby boomers, generation X, millennials. With the matures being born prior to 1945 and the millennials arriving after 1980…a great struggle exists. These very different groups of people have to work hard to understand one another and find common ground. This is not just a social issue; it impacts every area of our society today, and is certainly present in the church.
The Bible says when brothers dwell together in unity, God commands a blessing (Psalm 133). Instead of coming together in unity, the church has allowed our preferences to divide us…rather than setting those preferences aside to focus on our purpose. Our purpose is to be one. This was the prayer that Jesus prayed for His church the night He was arrested, prior to laying down His life. “…that they may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that the world may believe that You sent Me (John 17:21).” Our unity is so imperative that it literally shows the world that Jesus Christ is in fact the Son of God.
This Sunday we are going to consider the issues that divide us and allow the Word of God to unite us. The prophet Malachi wrote that before the coming of Messiah there would be a revival, and the thing that would mark this revival would be, “And he will turn the hearts of fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers…(Malachi 4:6).” This message is important for every family at Cornerstone to hear.
Sunday Night Prayer and Praise Service
This Sunday night we are going to have a prayer and praise service. These are special moments when we spend time in the presence of the Lord, and let His power, His Spirit and His hand touch our lives. If you haven’t been to one of these services, you owe it to yourself to join us this Sunday night at Cornerstone.
Pastor Paul Sheppard at Cornerstone
On Sunday November 11, Pastor Paul Sheppard is going to be our guest speaker while Pastor and I are in Israel. Pastor Sheppard is no stranger to Cornerstone, and has always blessed us with messages of truth, hope and encouragement. I want you to be here at Cornerstone to enjoy this man of God and the message that he brings. You will not be disappointed as this gifted communicator returns to Cornerstone.
I want to thank every person who volunteered this past week at the Feast! You were simply the best. This past Feast was one of the best that we have ever celebrated here at Cornerstone, and it was the tireless effort of your willing hands and feet that made it possible. I was told by one man who visited us from Michigan this past week, “This celebration is what heaven is going to be like.” That statement should let you know how impactful this celebration was for those who gathered at Cornerstone this past weekend. When Pastor Hagee and I say that the people of Cornerstone are the reason why this church is great, it is not an exaggeration…it is a fact. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! You are the best of the best.
