The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

John Hagee

Christianity rises or falls on the resurrection story.

If Jesus Christ didn’t rise from the dead, our faith is a hoax. If He didn’t rise from the dead, our songs and our sermons mean little. If He didn’t rise from the dead, our cathedrals of worship are monuments to simply, “a good man.”

Luke 24 begins like this, "Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”

Here is the resurrection story. On Thursday night, more than 2,000 years ago, Jesus of Nazareth was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane just outside the Eastern Walls of Jerusalem. His disciples slept as He prayed. The guards came to take Him down the Via Dolorosa to Golgotha, where He sweat drops of crimson blood...as the sins of the world were placed upon Him.

In agony, He looked up to God the Father, and said, “Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me... nevertheless, not my w

There will come a time in your life when you will go through a great trial, when the will of God for your life and your will for your life...Cross. You are going to have to say these exact words to achieve destiny that God has in store for you. Jesus’ destiny was the Cross. He was the Lamb of God, slain from the foundations of the world.

Had Christ not gone to the Cross, He would have been a failure and there would not have been redemption for any of us. Rome could not convict Him. The Cross could not conquer Him. The grave could not contain Him. Satan could not defeat Him.

HE WAS AND IS...AND ALWAYS SHALL BE THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS.

HE HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, AND THIS EASTER WE CELEBRATE THE RISEN SAVIOR!
