Matthew 24:3

Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?

As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to ask Him about the signs of His coming. He proceeded to tell them, and straight from the Son of God came a very comprehensive outline of the end of this age and the beginning of eternity.

Jesus spoke of wars, famines, earthquakes, and pestilences. He predicted that many would be offended, would betray and hate one another. Today’s headlines are a fulfillment of prophecies spoken over 2000 years ago.

In record time, the coronavirus changed the world. Rumors of biochemical warfare and nuclear capability are rampant. Racial tensions, once simmering, have erupted. The economic implications loom large. Freedoms we once took for granted disappeared. Fear and uncertainty grip many across the globe.

Even while the signs rage around us, we can rest assuredly in His promises. Jesus holds us safely in His hand, and no one can snatch us away from Him (John 10:28). He promised that He would never abandon us; He is present to help us navigate these current woes.

He enjoins us to take heart, to not be afraid. In the middle of it all, He promises to fill us with His profound peace. These signs of the end are also signs of a new and better beginning.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you shine the light and share the love of Jesus with the world around you until the day of His appearing.
