Firstfruits is the offering of the first grain, the first harvest. In the Old Testament, the first grain was given to God at the temple so that the crops were blessed. Christians worship on the first day of the week, the day Jesus rose from the dead. It’s the firstfruits of the week. The success of the week begins on Sunday. What you do with your firstfruits sanctifies the rest of the fruit. First is preceding all others in time and in order of importance. When you tithe, you give the firstfruits of your labor to God.
