Inside the Holy of Holies, the Ark of the Covenant is covered in gold. On top of the Ark is blood from the sacrificial animal. The solid gold angels on each side of the Ark look down on the top of the Ark, the mercy seat. Inside are the Ten Commandments. Do you need mercy from God? It’s because of His mercies that we are not consumed. You can’t escape them.
