The Cure

Matt Hagee

No matter what your opinion is, I think we can all agree that something is very wrong in our world today. Something is wrong when a lie becomes the truth, and the truth is considered a lie. Something is wrong when the hunger for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is openly hijacked by individuals craving total control. Something is wrong when the streets can easily be filled with violent protestors, but churches are in desperate search of prayer warriors.

Something is wrong when the Word of God declared from the pulpit is considered hate speech... and censored.

Something is wrong when public officials open their mouths and blatantly lie, calling themselves public servants. We have become lovers of self, despisers of good, a lawless and greedy people.

What’s wrong? We have a sin problem that is saturating every corner of our society. What can we do about it? We can seek out a cure. This cure is totally free, paid for by the only begotten Son of God, the spotless Lamb of God. It doesn’t matter where you have come from or what you’ve been through. It doesn’t even matter the road you’re currently walking. This cure is the only thing that can make a way where there seems to be no way.

This cure is 100% effective. It conquers darkness and heals all sickness and disease. The cure has defeated death, hell and the grave. This cure calms your fears and cleanses you from every sin, removing the yoke of bondage and the shackles of sin and shame.

Our world is sick! Our world is infected! We have a serious problem on our hands! But we have access to the cure, in Jesus’ name! Psalm 107:20-22 tells us, “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice with sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare His works with rejoicing.”

While we often focus on things that are completely unimportant, we must always remember this one truth that remains. Give thanks to the Lord! That’s it. That’s the focus you should have for your life, as you walk through the good and the bad...give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!

God paid the price for your redemption. Upon your last breath, you would not be seeing the pearly gates. Give thanks! Don’t forget where you were when He healed you. Give thanks! Don’t forget what happened when He saved your marriage. Give thanks! We serve an awesome God who is worthy of our highest praise! Give thanks!

One of our biggest problems is that instead of the redeemed of the Lord standing up, proclaiming the good news, sharing the word of their testimony...the redeemed remain silent. We don’t want to offend anybody. Guess what? We live in a day and time where everyone is offended. Get over it and proclaim the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Maybe you are currently wandering through a personal wilderness. He is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path (Psalm 119:105). You can’t wander in this world. You have to follow somebody. May I recommend Jesus?

Stubbornness will make you wander on your own. Rebellion is when you give into your own pride...because, of course, you know what’s best for yourself. How is that workin’ out for you? There are all kinds of things in this world that you can reject, but the one thing you cannot reject is the counsel of the Most High. Our steps are ordered of the Lord.

For all the ways there are to get into trouble, there’s only one way out...to cry out to the One who can do something about your distress. No matter how you got into trouble, no matter where you find yourself today...if you’re wandering in a wilderness, God is an ever-present help in times of trouble. If you’re lost in a maze of confusion, God is an ever-present help in times of trouble. If you’re bound in chains and shackled by chains, God is an ever-present help in times of trouble.

Are you broken today? Cry unto Him. Are you weary? Cry unto Him. Are you tired? Cry unto Him. Why? Because He hears you. He can deliver you. Your answer is on the way!

Sometimes the chains we wear are chains of our own making, chains that resulted from our own foolish choices. All of the chains that bind you can melt away in an instant when you change your focus from the failures of your past to the absolute victory you have through Christ Jesus.

Friends, we have immediate access to the greatest cure man has ever know...or will ever know. Cry out to God and lay your burden at the Cross. Your debt has been paid. Your sin has been forgiven. You have been set free. And whom the Son sets free, is free indeed.
